We often think of God’s presence, pure awareness, or consciousness as something we connect with when we’re quiet, meditating, or being still.
But what happens when we’re busy communicating transformational ideas, helping others, solving problems, or getting things done?
In a recent gathering with members, Mystic, Guide, Artist, Builder, we explored four modes of attention that we use in everyday life: mystical awareness, heart-centered guidance, creative expression, and focused practical action. Each has its place, and learning to move consciously between them makes all the difference.
Then, during Thursday’s Momentum Session, I noticed something interesting…
After the technical demo, I was still carrying some tension from the sustained, focused attention of Builder mode. When we moved into Q&A, I realized I hadn’t fully shifted into Guide mode, where the emphasis is on remaining centered in the heart while guiding and supporting others.
Next time, I think we’ll take a few moments to reconnect with our center before moving into Q&A. That’s good practice after any period of focused attention.
I call this Mystic mode…
Releasing our focus on doing, returning to our heart center, and receiving the inner mandate before moving into whatever comes next. These pauses between activities are important.
Today’s reflection…
Notice how your attention changes as you move between activities.
After a period of focused external attention, take a few moments to release the task completely, turn it over to a higher power, and return to your center.
In this stillness, we can discover the next step is already waiting to reveal itself.
Be well,

P.S. All four modes of attention matter, not only for creating meaningful work and a practice we love, but also for living a good, fulfilling life. Watch the full replay of Mystic, Guide, Artist, Builder here. Normally, replays of our EWM gatherings are available only to members, but I’m making this one available for the next three days so you can check it out.
